The Webster University men’s and women’s track teams traveled to Illinois College for the Jim Green Invitational on Feb. 4, which included over 20 schools from NCAA Division II and III and the NAIA.

Freshman Jenny Howard led the way with a fourth-place finish in the 60-meter Dash with a time of 8.04 seconds.

“It was a great experience,” Howard said. “My goal was to just it make it to the finals. I ended up running a new personal record for myself in it, so it was extra rewarding.”

Top performers for the Gorloks were junior Aaron Oberneufemann, freshman Jason Hickson and sophomore Eroica Stackhouse. Oberneufemann participated in both the 200-meter and 400-meter dashes. He placed 26th out of 42 runners in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.72. In the 400-meter dash, he finished 17th out of 32 with a time of 53.42.

“I was excited to run in both events,” Oberneufemann said. “My times are where I want them to be and I’ll continue to do my best.”

Hickson competed in the 5,000-meter run and finished 15th with a time of 16 minutes, 50.61 seconds. In the one-mile run, Stackhouse completed the event with a time of 5:54.6 which placed her 27th out of 58.

“It wasn’t the team’s best performance, but it does give us a glimpse of how much better we will be at future track meets,” Stackhouse said. “We have a few weeks to prepare for our next meet. Now is a good time to push harder and do more difficult workouts.”

The next event for both teams is the Alumni Classic at Illinois College, which will take place on Feb.17 in Jacksonville, Ill.
