Gorloks rebound from loss by edging Eagles 61-52

The Webster University men’s basketball team just went through their most tumultuous week of the season. Two days after their 12-game winning streak was snapped by Blackburn College (5-17), the Gorloks responded by beating Spalding University and regaining possession of first place in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

Despite season-ending injury, Ford motors on

In the ninth game of the Webster women’s basketball season, starting guard Barissa Ford tore her ACL and lost the remainder of her senior season. At the time of the injury, Ford was averaging nearly eight points and over three rebounds per game. In spite of the injury, Ford remains an important member of the team because of her willingness to be there for her teammates.

Student athletes lend a helping hand

Webster University’s athletic department is chipping in to help elementary school children improve their reading and mathematics skills through a program called UrbanFUTURE. At the start of 2011, Webster student athletes began tutoring children in the fourth and fifth grades at Froebel Elementary School.

Four of the greatest student athletes in Webster University history were officially inducted into the Webster Athletic Hall of Fame on Feb. 5. Halley (Spann) Barke, Mike Hutchison, Eric Stack and Dan Thoman joined last year’s inaugural class to comprise the first nine individuals enshrined in the HOF.

King’s Court: Keys to Success

The Webster University women’s basketball team has had its ups and downs this season. Even with some bad stretches, Webster is in the hunt to play in the SLIAC tournament. But there are a few things the Golroks have to do to finish the season strong.
