The Webster University men’s team improved to 3-1 on the season by defeating the Franklin College Grizzlies and the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology Fightin’ Engineers this weekend in Terre Haute, Ind.
The Gorloks defeated Franklin (Ind.) 8-1 on Saturday, Feb. 16. Webster then toppled Rose-Hulman (Ind.) 7-2 on Sunday, Feb. 17. Webster is on a three-match winning streak after opening the season with a 6-3 loss to Cornell College (Iowa).
Senior Ricky Eaves won his two singles matches at the No. 4 spot and two doubles matches at No. 2 to improve to 8-0 on the season.
Against Franklin, Webster won five of six singles matches in straight sets. Senior Diego Alarcon fell in a third-set super tiebreak at No. 1 singles. But Alarcon rebounded by teaming with senior Josh Sellmeyer to win at No. 3 doubles, 8-1. The Gorloks swept all three doubles matches.
