Webster Journal Wins 9 out of 15 awards

The Journal placed in nine of the 15 categories in which it submitted entries and won four categories. First-place honors went to: May 2010 graduate Matt Blickenstaff (News), senior Jonathan Webb (sports), December 2010 graduate Mike Diliberto (non-political cartoon) and freshman Josh Coppenbarger and senior Chavon Chester (story illustration).

Amir Kurtovic, a 2010 graduate, placed second in the Investigative Reporting category, while Fall 2010 Sports Editor Collin Reischman and his staff earned second place in the Story Illustration category. Former lifestyle editor Amanda Keefe won second place for her photo psge design Four students’ effort garnered the paper honorable mention for In-depth Reporting. Editor-in-Chief Jenn Proffitt, Chester, Maassen and Webb, all seniors, were recognized for their coverage of a student’s death during the fall semester.

Andrea Sisney, who will serve as The Journal’s editor-in-chief next school year, was elected as MCMA vice president for the 2011-12 school year.
