Men’s Soccer

After coming off an exceptional 14-3-3 record in 2022, the Gorloks look to continue their six-season winning streak. Unfortunately, they go into the season without their top two scorers from last year: Aamahn Murvin and Mark Moore. Despite this, the Gorloks won their season opener against Maryville College on Sept. 1 by a score of 4-2, with Tahla Dizdarevic netting three goals.

This victory represents the first win for the Gorloks’ new head coach, Nenad Curic. Before arriving at Webster this season, Curic had been the assistant coach for Lindenwood University since 2005, helping lead the Lions to three NCAA Regional Championships during his tenure.

Women’s Soccer

This year represents the first season without Jordan Lande on the roster since 2017, and her presence will be missed as she holds the Gorloks’ record for games played and places second in career goals. As the program leaps into its 25th season, the Gorloks will also attempt to achieve their 25th winning season, exemplifying the winning culture that has defined the program since 1999.

Despite dropping their season opener to Maryville College with a score of 1-3, the Gorloks will face off in nine SLIAC conference matches later in the season, kicking it off with a home match against Blackburn College on Sept. 26.

Volleyball

The Gorloks lost a significant amount of talent in the offseason, including the top two kill leaders from last season: Kaylee Portell and Abby Jacobs. Despite only winning one set in the three matches played at the Washington University Invitational, the team is still very young, comprised of ten freshmen.

Their next six matches will be in Grant Gymnasium, including Faculty and Staff Appreciation Night against Washington University on Sept. 13.

Tennis

Both teams began their season with a win against Illinois College, the men running away with an 8-1 win, while the women just edged out a 5-4 victory.

Both teams will face off in back-to-back matches between Trine University and Fraklin College in Franklin, Indiana, on Sept. 9. Show the Gorloks support when both teams clash against Anderson University at the Webster Groves Recreational College on Sept. 16!

Men’s Golf

The team is coming off a second-place finish at the Transylvania Fall Invitational where the Gorloks shot -7 in the third round, tying the program’s best single-round score. They’re looking to stay hot into the Rhodes Fall Intercollegiate Classic on Sept. 24 in Tunica, Mississippi.

Cross Country

With a penultimate finish at the Rose-Hulman Opener on Sept. 15, the Gorloks are looking to improve at the Larry Young Invitational and Webster’s “Gorlok-Griffin Invitational” on Sept. 23 at Buder Park. Come out and cheer the squad on!
