President Barack Obama announced last week the creation of the White House task force on protecting students from sexual assault.
Obama said that the student led activism on the issue has been inspiring but government intervention will help campuses come up with better policies and enforcement, according to the Chronicle of Higher Education.
The goals of the task force are to:
– Provide ways of responding to sexual assaults for the university.
– And ensure they comply with the legal standards for response.
– Raise awareness on laws concerning the issue of sexual assault.
– And encourage cooperation between agencies that are involved with the issue.
Obama is to expect recommendations from the task force within the next 90 days, reports the Chronicle. And the full report will be expected within a year.
