Webster soccer alumni game brings back Gorlok tradition at Soccer Park

The Webster University men’s soccer program held their first Alumni Soccer Game since 2005, on Saturday Aug. 24.

Webster coach, Michael Siener said he expected a large turnout for the alumni and thought it might even rival the roster numbers of his team. The 40 varsity players and 15 freshman won out over the alumni.

The alumni were held scoreless until the second half. They scored the first two goals in the second half after more players showed up late. Webster came back with two of their own but were outscored in the second 3-2 when the alumni scored a last second goal.

The alumni team, more than half of whom had graduated in the past few years, lost 6-5.

Siener said he plans to continue the alumni game and make it even bigger next year.
