The Webster University men’s basketball team stayed unbeaten in St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play and also evened its record to 9-9 overall with a win at Blackburn College, 67-62, on Saturday, Jan. 28. The victory for the Gorloks is their eighth in the last nine games. The team began the season losing eight of its first nine, but has reversed the trend recently. Webster swept the season series with Blackburn with Saturday’s win.

The Gorloks led the Beavers by 16 at halftime and held off Blackburn for a five-point victory. This conference victory comes off the heels of a loss to nonconference opponent Lindenwood University last Monday. Blackburn is now 5-14 overall and currently on an 11-game losing streak.

With the win, Webster stands alone atop the SLIAC standings, 3.5 games ahead of second-place Eureka College. Blackburn is second-to-last, ahead of only winless Principia College.

Webster will next face Westminster College, currently 6-4 in conference play, at Westminster on Wednesday, Feb. 1, at 8 p.m. The Gorloks’ next home game is a week from today on Feb. 4 at 3 p.m. in Grant Gymnasium against Eureka.
