Webster University Women’s soccer season ends in first round of NCAA tournament

The Wheaton College (Ill.) Thunder eliminated the Webster University women’s soccer team from NCAA contention with a 4-0 victory over the Gorloks. Wheaton, the No. 4 ranked team in NCAA Division III, were led by sophomore forward Ally Witt. Witt scored two goals and added one assist. All four of Wheaton’s goals came from bench players.

The women’s soccer team advanced to the NCAA Division III tournament after it defeated Principia College 4-1 last weekend in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) Championship. The Gorloks went undefeated (11-0) in SLIAC play this season. Five Webster seniors will graduate this season. During the four years they’ve been on the team, the team’s overall record was 59-23-1.

Webster University finishes the season 19-3 overall, and 11-0 in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The 19 wins in the winningest season in Webster women’s soccer history.
