Men’s soccer looks to remain unbeaten in conference play

The Webster University men’s soccer team will hit the road to face the Fontbonne University Griffins on Oct. 12 at 6 p.m. at Gay Field in Clayton.
Webster will pit its 5-5-1 record against the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference leader, as the Griffins have a SLIAC record of 3-0 and an overall record of 8-4-1.
Webster will attempt to keep its undefeated conference record in tact. The Gorloks are 2-0 in SLIAC play. Webster was clipped by the Griffins 2-1 in a late season matchup last year.

Cross-country teams compete at Gibson Family Invitational

The men’s and women’s cross-country teams ran at the Gibson Family Invitational on Oct. 8 in Terre Haute, Ind. The women placed ninth overall in a field of 12 teams, while the men finished 13th out of 14 teams.
The top finisher for the women was sophomore Heather Heisse with a time of 26:16. This was the third straight competition she finished first among the Gorloks. Sophomore Julie Greenough was 10 seconds behind Heisse for the second-best Webster finish.
For the men, freshman Jason Hickson led the Gorloks with a time of 28:37. This was enough to place him 56th overall among 189 runners.
Senior Tony Morales finished second overall for the Gorloks, while junior Daniel Henkey finished third.
Both teams will participate in the Illinois College Invitational on Oct. 15 in Jacksonville, Ill.
