Gorlok Talk: How do you feel about Webster athletes kneeling for the national anthem? By Hayley Abshear - October 18, 2017 1 569 FacebookTwitterPinterestWhatsApp “It’s their right to express freedom of speech and freedom to not speak. I get what they’re trying to say and this is a very non-violent, peaceful way of showing dissatisfaction of the current state of affairs.” -Elizabeth Swanson “It’s pretty cool. I don’t see why anyone would get angry about it. I know a few soldiers and they’re not offended. They completely agree with the statement they are trying to make.” – Cody Cullum “I care about the message, I don’t care that they’re kneeling. If you’re in a place with a lot of people, which athletes are, a lot of people are going to see that they’re protesting. It’s a good way to get people to see the message.” – Kirby Weber “I think if people are dissatisfied with the current state of things they should have every right to vocalize that or show it especially if they go through the trouble of getting with a group and uniting their message.”- Abram Donovan Share this post Hayley Abshear + posts Hayley Abshear https://websterjournal.com/author/hayley-abshear/ Webster launches World Report Podcast Hayley Abshear https://websterjournal.com/author/hayley-abshear/ Domestic violence survivors find healing through art workshop Hayley Abshear https://websterjournal.com/author/hayley-abshear/ Filmmakers highlight struggles in the black community Hayley Abshear https://websterjournal.com/author/hayley-abshear/ Killer Mike encourages students to stay free and creative Related Related Posts Gorlok Talk: How do you feel about the Webster Chess Team winning its fifth consecutive national championship?Let us know what you think in the comments!
