How do you feel about the student walk-out protest? By The Journal - October 9, 2017 0 527 FacebookTwitterPinterestWhatsApp “One of the most frustrating things for me was not knowing if everyone was doing it for the same reasons. I know that I was doing it for my country. As a black woman, as an American, I was doing it. So it was frustrating when people were saying well ‘all lives matter, this is happening on this side of the world,’ but we’re talking about America.” -Dany Partee “This was my first time protesting for anything really. I was uncertain if I wanted to do it. I knew it was gonna happen but after seeing it I was inspired to join in just because I look at it a little differently. I try to think about it in a way that’s not like ‘how does it affect me’ because honestly I had many interactions with the police and I’ve never had any problems. They’ve always treated me with respect and I’ve never felt like an outcast but I understand that just because it doesn’t affect me it may affect my neighbor or my friend or my mother.” -Trey Johnson “Personally I think people should have the right to protest whatever they want. This protest, I’m not really on board with, but if they want to protest go ahead. It’s not my place to say they can’t do it. If it’s in the constitution it’s okay with me.” -Micah Miller “I think it’s great that there was a protest. I couldn’t be apart of it because I was in a meeting but I just hope that it’s helping and making a difference.” -Karli Davis Share this post The Journal + posts The Journal https://websterjournal.com/author/the-journal/ Letters to the Editor The Journal https://websterjournal.com/author/the-journal/ Webster Insider: Hitchcock Thriller Opens Rep Season The Journal https://websterjournal.com/author/the-journal/ How has Webster shaped you?
