Webster Geneva student Abdullah Aljarboa died Saturday after he drowned while swimming in the Rhône River, according to a press release on Webster Today.
Aljarboa, a freshman at Webster Geneva, began attending the university in January 2013. Aljarboa was from Saudi Arabia and was a resident of Les Berges du Rhône in France.
In a statement, Webster Geneva Director Willem Jan Hofmans and Academic Director Ron Daniel wrote: “Though he was only with us for a short time, Abdullah was a well-liked student and a passionate member of the Webster Geneva football team. We have expressed our deep condolences and offer of assistance to Abdullah’s family. Our hearts go out to them.”
Webster Geneva is offering counseling to faculty, staff and students affected by Aljarboa’s death.
