Webster University’s baseball team bounces back from its first loss in the NCAA Regional Tournament and put up double digit runs in its win against Adrian College (Mich.) on May 17.
The Gorloks survived elimination, but are still in a must-win situation against Concordia College Chicago Friday night at 7. Concordia is the only undefeated team left in the tournament. They have already defeated No. 18 Augustana College (Ill.) 2-0, and they handed Webster its first loss on May 16.
Webster was aggressive on the base paths. Senior Cody Stevenson picked off at first, then junior Corey Lasky was caught stealing for Webster’s first two outs of the game.
They ended up scoring three runs in the first two innings as their middle of the lineup produced all game long. Junior Taylor Stoulp, and seniors Mike Rainbolt and Alex Kazmierski batting in the three, four and five spots respectively, had a combined .500 batting average with six runs scored and a home run.
The fielding errors that hampered the Gorloks in their loss to Augustana were absent in this game. Only one error was made, and that was on pitcher Cody Hafeli, but it didn’t lead to any Bulldog runs. He threw a complete game giving up 12 hits and striking out four.
