Dots Not Feathers will reveal its new sound at its show Saturday night. The band formed about four years ago with founding members Stephen Baier and Ryan Myers.
The band’s new lineup came together about three months ago. Tonight will be their first show since the fresh start.
“I’ve been trying to take aspects of pieces I’ve been working on for the past couple of years and trying to apply it to this music,” said Katie Brooking, Webster senior and Dots Not Feathers vocalist and pianist. “This (band) has re-sparked my love for music.”
The band plays at the Firebird on Saturday, Feb. 23. Doors open at 8:00 and the show starts at 9:00. [pullquote]“I think peoples minds are going to explode, when they’re like, ‘this is not the Dots Not Feathers I know,” Katie Brooking said. [/pullquote]
Dots Not Feathers are in the process of recording an album with the new lineup. The band has been in the studio for the past two months writing and recording with about another month to go before they’re finished. This will be Brooking’s first time recording with a band in a studio.
“I think peoples minds are going to explode, when they’re like, ‘this is not the Dots Not Feathers I know,” Brooking said. “I guess we’ll really find out on Saturday.”
The band is nervous about how its new sound will be received.
“Once I hit the stage and start playing, it’s like, ‘oh yeah, this if fun,” Baier said. “I remember this, I play music. Guitar is not a foreign object to me.”
