A storm the evening of Thursday, Aug. 16 caused a large tree branch to fall and bring down a power line on the corner of Lockwood Avenue and Bompart Avenue. A top portion of the branch fell onto one lane of Lockwood near a stop sign, and only caused a slight delay in traffic by 5 p.m.

At approximately 5 p.m., a Webster Groves police officer said he was unsure if the power line was active. Police still took precautionary measures and cautioned pedestrians to stay away from the wire. Webster Groves Police also shut down the small portion of Bompart between Big Bend and Lockwood.

A Webster Groves Police officer also blocked off the power line using yellow caution tape. The caution tape was place at the exit of the Lot B (in front of Webster and Loretto Halls) and extended to a bus stop on Lockwood.
