The Webster University men’s and women’s tennis teams defeated the Eureka College Red Devils men’s and women’s teams in Eureka, Ill., on Saturday, March 31. The games against the fellow St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference member were originally scheduled for March 23 but were postponed due to rain.
The men’s team swept Eureka 9-0. Four men’s players swept their opponents 6-0, 6-0 in singles play.
The women’s team continued its undefeated spring season with an 8-1 decision. Doubles were no problem for the women, as victories were earned by seniors Allison and Paige Tungate at No. 1, freshmen Marissa Lewis and Mackenzie Wilder at No. 2. Freshmen Isabella Espinoza and Hillary Fitz finished the doubles sweep at No. 3.
The women’s team (13-1, 3-0 SLIAC) will host the Blackburn College women’s tennis team (1-3, 1-1 SLIAC) at the Webster Groves Tennis Center on Tuesday, April 3 at 6 p.m. The men’s team (10-2, 2-1 SLIAC) will welcome the Greenville College men’s team (6-3, 2-1 SLIAC) on the same night at 6 p.m. at the Webster Groves Tennis Center.
