Softball drops 2012 opener, rebounds to beat Austin College


The Webster University softball team lost 9-1 to the Millsaps College Majors on Saturday, March 3 in Jackson, Miss., to begin the 2012 campaign. Webster softball is coming off a successful 2011 season in which the Gorloks went 25-15 with a 13-3 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference record, but lost the SLIAC championship game to rival Fontbonne University.

Later in the day, the Gorloks picked up their first win of the season when they pounded Austin College 9-1.

Webster will once again take on Austin and Millsaps in a Sunday, March 4 doubleheader. The Gorloks play Austin at 10 a.m. and Millsaps at noon to conclude their four-game trip.
