Women’s basketball takes down Highlanders

In its final road contest of the regular season, the Webster University women’s basketball team defeated the MacMurray College Highlanders, 64-54, on Feb. 18.

With the victory, the Gorloks improved their overall record to 11-13 and now possess a 9-6 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference record. MacMurray dropped to 9-15 overall and has a 4-11 conference mark.

Webster has now won two in a row and three of its last four.

On Feb. 15, the Gorloks clinched a berth in the SLIAC tournament, which starts Feb. 24. Webster defeated Greenville College, 69-61, at Grant Gymnasium.

The women’s team’s next game is the regular-season finale. The Gorloks will host SLIAC rival Fontbonne University at 6 p.m. on Feb. 21 at Grant Gymnasium. The Fontbonne Griffins (15-9, 12-3) are currently third in the conference behind Eureka College (second) and Westminster College (first).
