Women’s basketball clawed by Golden Eagles, drops to 5th in SLIAC

The Webster University women’s basketball team lost a road game to St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference foe Spalding University, 54-41, on Feb. 11. The Gorloks’ loss puts them at 9-13 overall and gives them an 8-6 record in SLIAC play. Spalding is now 12-11 overall and owns an 8-6 record in SLIAC contests.

Webster was coming off a victory in its previous game, a road contest on Tuesday, Feb. 7, at Principia College. With Saturday’s loss, the Gorloks fell to fifth place in the SLIAC. They are now behind Spalding (fourth), Fontbonne University (third), Westminster College (second) and are six games behind conference-leader Eureka College.

The women’s basketball squad returns home on Wednesday, Feb. 15, to face Greenville College in another SLIAC matchup. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m. in Grant Gymnasium. Greenville is currently 6-15 overall and 3-9 in conference play.
