Andrew Case, a junior international business major works out five days a week. Case said the Webster University fitness center’s new program ‘Work it to Win it’ doesn’t give him any extra motivation to work out, but he is still is hoping he can win.
Case said it is important for people to exercise and thinks that the program is a good way to try to get people to work out more.
“A lot of Americans are fat, so I think that they need to work out, eat properly and start hitting the gyms because there’s a lot of fat people on campus,” Case said.

‘Work it to Win it’ runs through the end of the semester and is open to everyone. Any person taking part just needs to work out for at least half an hour on any given day. When finished, they can fill out a ticket and enter into a drawing for prizes. Drawings are held every Monday.
Case likes the fact that the Fitness Center is trying to find ways to make people want to work out. He said that he has seen a small change in how many people are using the weight room when he works out, but it is still too early in the program to tell whether it is working.
Case said he hopes that people begin working out and eventually develop the motivation to go to the gym without a secret prize reward.
“Hopefully, it will lead to a more sustainable workout where they don’t have to have a raffle or anything, they can just keep on working out after the program ends.” Case said.
Case does like the premise of ‘Work it to Win It,’ but believes it needs to be better advertised. He said that it might be more appealing if people knew what they had the chance to win.
The Fitness Center is open Monday through Thursday from 6 a.m. to midnight, Friday from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
