Freshman pitcher Rachel Franck threw a no-hitter for the Gorloks as the Webster University softball team took down Catholic University of America (Wash.) 2-1 on Saturday, March 9 in Kissimmee, Fla.

The start was Franck’s second of the season. The Cardinals’ lone run was scored on an error by junior third basemen Kayla Mahoney in the top of the sixth inning. Franck pitched the complete seven innings and allowed just the one run. Of the 24 batters she faced, Franck struck out four and walked two.

Franck not only contributed with her arm, but also with her bat. Offensively, she accounted for two hits in the game and scored a run for the Gorloks. With the win over the Cardinals, Franck now moves her record to 2-0 on the young season.

With the victory, Webster moves to 4-4 on the year. The Gorloks will face off against Transylvania University (Ky.) and College of Mount St. Joseph (Ohio) on Sunday, March 10.
