Webster men’s basketball came into their game against Iowa Wesleyan University needing a win and some help to make the conference tournament.
Webster did what they needed to, defeating the Tigers 83-61 on senior day.
Head coach Chris Bunch went with a relatively taller lineup for the game to supplement the lack of rebounding in their previous game against Iowa Wesleyan. The Gorloks lead by 10 points in the first half, until the Tigers came back late to bring the game within four. Webster lead at halftime 43-39.
When the second half began, the Gorloks stretched their lead to nine with a 5-0 run coming out of halftime. Webster lead by as many as 26 points in the second half.
Junior guard C.J. Moore led all scorers with 22 points. Fifteen of those came in the second half.
After the game, the Gorloks waited in the locker to watch the end of the Westminster vs. Principia game. Principia won 65-62.
After discussing the tie-breakers, the SLIAC has announced the teams to fill the two open spots in the tournament are, Westminster College and Spalding University. Webster was eliminated from the tournament.
