A not so common face attended a general body meeting held by Webster University Student Government Association. Webster Groves mayor Gerry Welsh attended the meeting to explain what the city council has done recently for the university and gave an opportunity for SGA members to ask her questions.
SGA member Chandler Waite asked the mayor about what the current situation is in the rezoning process. Welsh said that after the public hearings — where the council heard the views from students, residents, groups and received thousands of emails and letters— the city council members held a series of work sessions to discuss the issues presented by many sides.
“We have tried to come up with some things that will resolve many of the issues,” Welsh said.
An ordinance regarding the zoning process is being amended and rewritten. It will be on the Webster Groves City Council website by Friday. A public hearing will be held at the city council meeting November 4th to discuss the amended ordinance.
