Webster University hires Scott Kilgallon as Athletic Director

After a four-month search process, Webster University announced Monday morning that Scott Kilgallon will be the new Athletic Director. He succeeds former athletic director Tom Hart, who left for the same position at Berry College in Georgia.

Scott Kilgallon is currently the athletic director at the University of Wisconsin- Eau Claire, a public liberal arts university located in Eau- Claire, Wisconsin. He has held that position for the past ten years, since July 2004.

 

According to an Eau- Claire news release, Kilagallon recently announced that he was going to retire from the position as of June 30, 2014.

 

Highlights during Kilgallon’s decade-long career at Eau-Claire Wisconsin included:

  • Winning three national championships: softball in 2008, women’s cross country in 2009 and men’s ice hockey in 2013, along with nine regional championships and 27 conference championships.
  • Student-athletes at UW- Eau Claire achieved a combined grade-point average of better than 3.0 each year under Kilgallon, In the 2009-10 school year student-athletes recorded their highest overall GPA in Kilgallon’s tenure with a 3.16 mark.
  • Student-athletes earned 34 WIAC scholar-athlete awards. In addition, 229 student-athletes achieved All-American honors.
  • 31 times UQ- Eau Claire coaches won the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Coach of the Year award.

 

Before joining Eau- Claire Wisconsin, Kilgallon served seven years as the director of athletics and the men’s and women’s cross country and track coach at Southern Vermont College.

 

Webster Head Women’s Volleyball Coach Merry Graf was named interim athletic director in the fall semester of 2013. Since a hiring has been made, Graf will now go back to her everyday coaching duties.

 

Kilgallon will appear on “The Extra Point” Monday April 21 at 9 p.m.
