Webster University is home to numerous construction projects, all of which were slated to be finished before the end of the fall 2012 semester. As the semester nears a close, some projects are still in progress.

Garden Avenue renovation

Improvements to Garden Avenue between Lot O and East Frisco Avenue began in October. Changes included widening the road 30 feet. The road was opened to traffic on Tuesday, Nov. 27 after mulching of the surrounding landscape was finished.

Construction on the road is not yet complete, and is expected to last until the end of November. Webster Groves Director of Public Works Paul Verheyen said streetlights would not be installed until early 2013 due to a manufacturer delay in delivery.

Garden Avenue Plaza

Alberici Constructors, Inc. completed the plaza between the East Academic Building and the Community Music School earlier this month. Construction on the plaza, which includes a paved map of the world and the Gateway Arch, began July 13.

Webster Hall elevator

Construction on the new elevator in Webster Hall began in June. As of August, the project is expected to be completed by the end of November. Construction by BSI Constructors is still underway. Steve Schrage, a project manager at BSI Constructors, said the elevator should be completed “probably within the next few weeks.”
