UPDATE 4:23 p.m. 10/11/12: Marletto’s Marketplace will be closed for dinner on Thursday, Oct. 11, according to an email from university spokeswoman Christine Eason. The university is still cleaning up after the clogged sewer, which backed up into the kitchen at Marletto’s late Thursday morning. Dining facilities in the University Center are open until 11 p.m.

Marletto’s Marketplace closed at approximately 11 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 11., due to a sewage leak.

“We have not yet determined the cause, but there was a sewage backup in the kitchen of Marletto’s,” said university spokeswoman Christine Eason.

The obstruction in the pipes was cleared around 12:30 p.m. Webster contacted the company Emergency Cleaning Service. Representatives from the firm will insert a camera into the pipe to confirm all obstructions have been removed.

The kitchen will be disinfected this afternoon. Eason said she was uncertain of when Marletto’s will reopen.
