Stefan Whittingham, who led the Webster University men’s basketball team in scoring and rebounding en route to being named the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Year a season ago, said he will transfer from Webster to Lincoln University (Pa.) for the 2012-2013 academic year.
As a junior, Whittingham will enter Lincoln with two years of athletic eligibility remaining. Since he is moving up from a Division-III school in Webster to D-II Lincoln, Whittingham will be eligible to play at Lincoln this season. Whittingham said he received an athletic scholarship to play at Lincoln but declined to say if it was a full-ride scholarship.
In his sophomore season at Webster, Whittingham became the go-to player for a Gorloks’ team that won a second straight SLIAC regular-season championship. Whittingham averaged team highs in minutes (33.5), points (15.5) and rebounds (8.2) last season for Webster. He started all 26 of the Gorloks’ games and shot 49 percent from the field.
