Anne W. Patterson, the U.S. ambassador to Egypt, will deliver the commencement address at Webster University’s 2012 commencement ceremony. Patterson will also receive an honorary Doctor of Laws degree from Webster.
Patterson is a career minister in the U.S. Foreign Service and an American diplomat. She was appointed as the U.S. ambassador to Egypt on June 30, 2011. From July 2007 to October 2010, Patterson served as U.S. ambassador to Pakistan. In the past, she has also served as an ambassador to El Salvador and Colombia and as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations. Before serving as the U.S. ambassador to Pakistan, Patterson served as the assistant secretary of state for International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs.
Patterson has received honors in the past. The list includes:

— The Order of Boyaca from Colombia’s government
— The Order of Jose Matias Delgado from El Salvador’s government
Webster’s commencement ceremony will be held at 10 a.m on May 12 at the Muny in Forest Park.
