Webster University’s seventh annual Kinematifest hosts Will Vinton, the Oscar winning artist known for creating many Claymation characters, including the 1980s California Raisins. Vinton will hold a workshop and be one of the keynote speakers on Saturday, April 19.

“I think there is a ton that can students can gain from speaking with an animator of (Vinton’s) caliber and experience,” said Christopher Sagovac, assistant professor Electronic and Photographic Media Department.

Kinematifest is Webster’s International Animation and Interactive media Festival. Sagovac said the festival is a place for like-minded people to come together from all forms of the arts and media, such as comic books, animation and video games. It is an opportunity to network with industry professionals and interact and learn from each other.

Kinematifest is open to the public. A Luau welcome BBQ and Quidditch match will be held in the Quad, Friday, April 18, starting at 5 p.m., followed by a screening of “Meet the Robinsons” with recorded intro by Steve Meyers at Winifred Moore Auditorium at 7 p.m. A complete schedule of events and their locations can be found at kinematifest.com
