When you hear the name Sabrina, you might turn your head to the famous Sabrina the Teenage Witch, but not this summer. A global singer has been breaking the charts with her new album “Short n’ Sweet.”

Sabrina Carpenter is no stranger to music. She had multiple songs released under Disney when she was younger while shooting the Disney show “Girl Meets World” like “Darling I’m a Mess” and “Can’t Blame a Girl for Trying.” This summer, she released her sixth album while only being 25.

Carpenter has come up before in the media with the backlash of Olivia Rodrigo fans speculating that Carpenter and Rodrigo’s ex, Joshua Bassett, were an item. This incident brought Carpenter back into the light of the media. Once she broke the media glass with “because i liked a boy,” addressing the internet’s bullying, she didn’t stop there. She grabbed many eyes and hearts with her album “Emails I Can’t Send.” This album, released in 2022, tells her story of heartbreak and the start of her rebellious life. With the song “Fast Times,” Carpenter tells listeners that it’s okay to let your guard down, have some fun and let life steer for you.

Her last album was a great transition to her new hit album “Short n’ Sweet,” with many of the songs already charting. The songs in question being “Espresso,” a song about her intoxicating the person who thinks she is so sweet, making them have her in their head 24/7, and “Please Please Please,” blowing viewer’s minds with the starring appearance of actor Barry Keoghan in the song’s music video. These two songs blend the perfect story of her being intoxicating and getting into trouble, to her then being behind those consequential bars and seeing even more trouble in the eyes of Keoghan.

These two songs have reached No.1 on the U.K charts and what seems to be coming next is her newest release, “Taste.” In the music video, it starred a kissing scene with Jenna Ortega that had fans’ jaws dropped. “Heard you’re back together and if that’s true, you’ll have to taste me when he’s kissing you” is a line in “Taste” and brings suspicion to many listeners to be a hint towards the singer Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello.

If that wasn’t enough, more of her songs reveal more flirtatious actions and words. For example, “Juno,” to not be confused with the 2007 movie, talks about how you are so attracted to a person, you want them to get you pregnant. “You know I just might / Let you lock me down tonight / One of me is cute, but two though?”

In her song “Bed Chem,” the beat reveals her presumptuous intentions. This line, “Come right on me, I mean camaraderie” takes the cake. Now that this song shows a flirty and bold version of Carpenter, the next songs really show her standing her ground in certain situations, like someone ghosting her.

In her song “Sharpest Tool,” she dives deeper into the feeling of being played with. She calls out an ex first, calling them “not the sharpest tool in the shed,” along with calling them out about not texting or explaining, “till your guilt creeps in.” Talk about bad communication on their end. She also brings up God in this song which is a huge head turn. It could have double meaning that her ex has sex with an ex, but also literally turned to God. On Aug. 23rd, Mendes tweeted about God, leading fans to connect the song with him. Interestingly, Carpenter’s rumored ex Bassett also turned to God after their relationship, so it could be about him, too.

Carpenter uses her sharp tongue and playful words to explain emotions and make gold out of complicated situations. This album shows the sweet and sour parts of Carpenter that everyone has been hungry for.
