Men’s basketball
Webster University’s men’s basketball team faced off against Greenville College Jan. 23. Greenville came into the game leading the SLIAC in points per game (113.0).
After the first half, the Gorloks led 54-52. It was a back-and-forth affair until junior swing guard C.J. Moore scored the game winning layup with no time left on the clock.
Moore’s basket gave Webster the 108-106 victory. Moore lead the team in points with 25.
The Gorloks followed up their victory over Greenville with a 70-63 win over Principia College. Principia is last in the conference with a record of 3-14, but had the leading scorer, Adaku Anumu (26 ppg).
Freshman forward, Evan Milligan, had one of his best games of the seasons with 15 points and four blocks. Milligan has seen extended playing time.
Webster’s winning streak continued against Eureka College with a 84-67 win, stretching the streak to three games. Hunter Ward lead the team with 24 points. Junior guard Adam Etter had six assists in the game.
The Gorloks season record is 10-9, 7-5 in conference play.
Women’s basketball
Webster University’s women’s basketball team’s losing streak continued against Greenville College with a last second 55-53 loss.
Sophomore Taylor Lucas was called for her fifth foul with 2:31 left in the game and then was called for a technical foul giving Greenville four free throws. They made three of four, giving the panthers a 50-48 lead. Webster lost 55-53.
The Gorloks then broke the streak with a 70-55 victory over Principia College. Sophomore guard Kelsey Miller scored 13 points on 75 percent shooting from three.
Webster could not pull out another win against Eureka College, falling 69-57. Junior forward Nadine Vaughn led the team with 14 points and 12 rebounds.
The Gorloks season record is now 8-11, 7-5 in conference play.
