I Heart Webster week kicked off Monday with an announcement from President Beth Stroble. Stroble released the university’s plan for constructing a Gorlok statue in the Library Plaza, between Emerson Library and Sverdrup Complex.
The 3-foot statue will be made of bronze, will sit atop a pedestal and will be a gift from the students to the university in celebration of Webster’s 100 year anniversary. The Student Government Association and Student Ambassadors are looking to raise $13,000 in donations from students alumni and parents for the statue.
Director of Student Engagement Jennifer Stewart said the sculptor is a local artist from Maplewood.
Billy Ratz of the Parent & Student Programs at Webster said the sculpture will be a connection point between the planned expanded quad and the current quad. It will extend past Edgar road to the East Academic Building.
