School of Communications Dean Eric Rothenbuhler to Retire after 14 Years

Eric Rothenbuhler, dean of Webster University’s School of Communications since 2012, has announced his retirement at the end of the academic year.

“In a 41-year career as professor and university administrator at five different universities, nothing has been as consistently compelling, challenging and rewarding as being dean of the School of Communications at Webster University,” Rothenbuhler wrote in a statement to The Journal. “We have something special here and I will be forever grateful for the chance to have been a part of it.”

Among his list of accomplishments as dean, Rothenbuhler led the renovation of Sverdrup Hall, a project that lasted 10 years. The resulting updates modernized the School of Communications building, with the installment of a soundstage and audio suite, among other improvements.

An announcement naming an interim dean is expected from the university soon.
