In the first St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game of the season, the Webster University men’s soccer team breezed past the Eureka College (Ill.) Red Devils 5-0 on Sept. 28. It’s the third straight game the Gorloks have shut out their opponent.

Junior defender Kris Brown scored his first two goals of the season to lead the way for the Gorloks. Mens Soccer Head Coach Michael Siener said this was the first time Brown moved up into a forward position as a Gorlok.

“He’s got a scoring touch,” Siener said. “Maybe something you take from this game is that. Maybe we need to look at Kris Brown up top a little bit and see how he does.”

The Gorloks registered a season-high 36 shots, 14 of them on goal. The first half however, consisted of multiple missed opportunities, including wide-shots, and shots striking the goal posts. Siener said he thinks his players under-minded Eureka a little bit and it led to some individual play.

“I think a lot of guys were a little anxious to maybe get their first goal,” Siener said.

The Gorloks made 23 different substitutions in the second half. Dino Music, a freshman midfielder, scored one goal, and assisted Brown’s 2nd goal of the game.

The Gorloks are off until next Saturday Oct. 5, and will host Greenville College (Ill.) at 5 p.m.
